Prior Lake is 20 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis next to Savage and Shakopee in Scott County. The city is south of the Minnesota River and surrounds the shores of Lower and Upper Prior Lake. Prior Lake has a total area of over 18 square miles and an estimated population of over 25,000 people in 2015.
